Exploring Family Roots in Los Angeles Podcast

On episode 13 of The Places Where We Go podcast, Julie & Art take a day trip and go exploring family roots in Los Angeles.  This trek took us searching for the earliest homes where Julie’s grandparents lived in the 1920s and 1930s.  They were the first folks on her dad’s side of the family to move way out west to California.

In Search of Three Early Family Residences

Julie found records of the earliest family residences in Los Angeles on her line through census records and public documents.  So we decided to drive the streets of Los Angeles to find, take photos, and walk by the three earliest homes inhabited by Julie’s grandparents. You can see pictures from this day of exploration on our blog post recapping this visit: Exploring East L.A.

Visiting a Stunning Church in East Los Angeles

Among the family records Julie found, there was a baptismal certificate for her father when he was two years old.  Since the church was near the early family homes, we decided to try to find the church in Los Angeles.  We’re surprised by the artistic beauty of the church – Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
