Overview of The Forester and Flower

The Forester and Flower Bed & Breakfast is set near peaceful surroundings. The lodging building dates back to 1870 and started as a Brew House and Coaching Inn.  This B&B offers five rooms plus a pub that provides local brews.

Each of the rooms at the B&B is uniquely decorated.  The location is close enough to Bath for easy access to the city but just far enough away to enjoy better hotel rates and more peaceful surroundings.

This bed and breakfast is just two miles south of the city center – a 10-minute bus ride away.  It’s nice to be close enough to the city’s main attractions but in a quieter environment for our evening’s sleep.

Breakfast at The Forester and Flower

In the morning, breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room. The breakfast includes various fruits, jams, breads, granola, yogurt, and more. The homemade jams and muffins are also a highlight and are all made from locally sourced ingredients.

During our stay, breakfast was served at 830am. We found ample options to fill up before heading out for the day to explore the sights of Bath and the vicinity. It is not a hot prepared breakfast. Rather options include various breads, scones, sweet bread, yogurts, fruits, multiple toppings, cereals, porridge, coffee, tea, and juice. We did not leave hungry.

Our Experience at The Forester & Flower

The hostess of the B&B is amiable and outgoing. We were greeted with some of the best local travel information and tips compared to anywhere else in our years of traveling. The hostess was a wealth of information about things to do in the area. She provided information on public transportation, recommendations on places to eat, and tips on places to visit.

Our Rose Room offered a bed and two chairs on either side: a dresser, closet, and small table round out the room. The room was supplied with bottled water daily.  The hospitality tray was well stocked with coffee, tea, and biscuits.  The bathroom was provided with shower gel and soap.

The Rose Room faces the main street, so we did have a bit of street noise upon opening the window.

Our only negative on the room was a rather uncomfortable bed – It almost was as if you could feel bed springs while lying down. At least it wasn’t a mushy mattress.

Location

Located in Combe Down, The Forester and Flower is less than two miles from Bath city center. Visitors with cars will find a small car park behind the property.

Travelers without cars can get easy access to Bath via bus transportation.  We used the #2 bus to and from Bath city center. This was typically a short 10-minute bus ride.  There is a bus stop just outside the B&B, and you can travel on it to Bath Spa Rail Station.

It’s nice to be close enough to the city’s main attractions but in a quieter environment for our evening’s sleep. The peaceful location provides a respite after touring the sites in Bath while providing reasonable proximity to the city center.

Tip:  The all-day pass is your best value if you ride the bus on more than one leg daily. Also, download the Bath city map in Google Maps before arrival for those traveling here without international phone plans but with a smartphone device. Plug in the address during your bus ride, and that will help you identify where to get off the bus for the B&B, as bus stops are notoriously unmarked for riders in new towns.
