On the bright side, diesel trucks typically require fewer oil changes—every 7,000 miles compared to 5,000 miles for gas trucks—though each change is more costly due to larger oil capacities. Still, since diesel trucks hold more oil, you’ll pay more for each oil change. We use synthetic oil when we change the oil on our Ford F250.
