Barry Island Introduction

Barry Island is a popular seaside resort that has been a popular destination for tourists since the 19th century. This seaside town has something for everyone, from its iconic amusement park to its golden beaches.

One way of enhancing your visit to any destination is to plan an excursion to a nearby location.  As a result, Barry Island became one of our afternoon trips out of Cardiff.

Barry Island Highlights

We had a wonderful time on Barry Island! The carnival rides at Barry Island’s Pleasure Park provided a festive atmosphere. We explored the Barry Island Visitor Center to better understand the local history and culture (or lack thereof), and strolled along Whitmore Bay Beach. We also took some time to relax at Friars Point and watched kayakers make their way in the Bristol Channel.

This was another trip influenced by Julie’s genealogy research, which involved tracing family tree branches to Glamorgan. We enjoyed walking on the land that was once home to our ancestors hundreds of years ago.
