A note about the ingredients

Peas: If you’re wondering how to make mushy peas from frozen peas, you’re covered here. You can use frozen peas for a quick version of mushy peas. We opted for a quick version here versus fresh peas or marrowfat peas which may only sometimes be available to some shoppers.

Mint: Fresh mint is best. Our garden produces mint like a weed, so it’s nice to have recipes like this to utilize the never-ending mint supply in our backyard.  Depending on the variety of mint available and its freshness, you can experiment with the amount to add to your mushy peas.

Pepper: Freshly ground black pepper is preferred though pre-ground works just as well.
